Casey Maunder – ‘Paint’

“Smash Down Jericho” (TIWN Media)

Review By The Rack ‘n’ Roll Preacher

‘Paint’ is the new single from Swansea based rocker Casey Maunder, and is the lead off single for his forthcoming third album “Smash Down Jericho”. Kicking in with a soul-stirring riff, and an impassioned vocal, the song instantly insinuates itself into your subconscious, proving to be an immediate ‘earworm’. I was scratching my head trying to work out what I might compare it to – my first impression is R.E.M at their most raucous, Casey certainly has a touch of Michael Stipe to his voice, and the riff has more than a touch of Peter Buck’s melodic fretwork to it. Casey pulls off a cracking guitar solo that truly flies, and the song has a terrific chorus. If this is indicative of what we can expect of the album, then we should all be very excited.
